โœฆ for the skeptics

how do restaurants get in the app?

short version: they don't apply, and they don't pay. real places come straight from google maps โ€” the same data behind the map on your phone.

where the places come from

when a vote gets locked to an actual restaurant, letsdine looks it up live through google places โ€” google's own listing for that spot, including its name, location and photos. it's the same database that powers google maps. nothing is hand-picked by us and nothing is hosted by us.

what that means in practice

โœ“every place is a real, public listing you could find on google maps yourself.
โœ•no restaurant pays to show up. there are no sponsored spots and no ads in the results.
โœ•restaurants aren't partners and don't have accounts. they don't even know letsdine exists.
โœ“the winner is whatever your group actually voted for โ€” not whatever makes anyone money.

and your data?

friends vote with no signup and no account โ€” just a link in the browser. the app reads google's public place info to show you the spot; it isn't selling your votes or your group to anyone. (full detail on the privacy page.)
